Silicone Cloth

silicone cloth manufacturer in China

Product Description

Silicone cloth is made of high-temperature resistant, anticorrosive, high-strength glass fiber cloth, calendered or coated with silicone rubber, forming a new high-performance, multi-purpose composite material. It combines the flexibility of rubber with the strength of fiberglass and has become an indispensable material in modern industry.

It has been widely used in aerospace, chemical industry, large-scale power generation equipment, machinery, metallurgical and non-metallic expansion joints (compensators), and many other fields. The long-term working temperature is below 250℃, and the working pressure is 300 kPa. It can withstand 280℃ for up to 16 hours and maintains stable performance under changing weather conditions.

The single-sided silicone cloth is mainly used for the outer protective layer of flexible fabric compensators, while the double-sided silicone cloth is suitable for inner sealing layers. Silicone rubber can also be formulated into flame-retardant types, allowing its use in fire protection and heat-shielding applications.
However, please note that silicone rubber cloth should not be used in environments containing SO₂ gas or water vapor, as it may affect material stability.

Color: silver gray, gray, red, blue, black, white, transparent, orange, or customized according to customer requirements.
Coating: single-sided or double-sided coating options available.

Physical and chemical properties:

  • Operates effectively from -70℃ to +260℃, providing stability under extreme temperatures.

  • Excellent flexibility, high surface friction, and superior elasticity.

  • Silicone cloth is a polymer elastomer with excellent heat aging resistance and dielectric strength.

  • Outstanding electrical insulation performance, suitable for various insulation applications.

  • Silicone rubber matrix ensures soft texture and good deformation after compression, allowing full gap filling. Reinforced with glass fiber support net, it withstands cutting and punching during fabrication.

  • Resistant to ozone, oxygen, UV radiation, and weathering, ensuring a service life of up to 10 years in outdoor conditions.

  • High insulation capability with a dielectric constant of 3.0–3.2 and breakdown voltage of 20–50 KV/mm.

  • Excellent chemical resistance to oils, acids, and alkalis.

  • Maintains dimensional stability and tear resistance, even after prolonged high-temperature exposure.

Main Applications

Electrical Insulation

Silicone cloth has high electrical insulation strength and can withstand heavy voltage loads over long periods. It is commonly used to manufacture insulating sleeves, gaskets, casings, and covers for electrical and electronic equipment that operate in high-temperature or high-voltage environments. Its stability ensures consistent performance in both industrial and outdoor electrical systems.

Non-Metallic Compensators

As a flexible connector in pipelines, silicone cloth helps absorb thermal expansion and contraction caused by temperature changes. It provides high-temperature resistance, aging resistance, and excellent elasticity, making it suitable for petroleum, chemical, cement, and energy industries. It prevents pipeline damage, leakage, and mechanical stress under long-term use.

Anti-Corrosion Protection

Silicone cloth is often used as an internal and external anti-corrosion layer for pipelines, ducts, and storage tanks. Its composite structure of silicone rubber and fiberglass gives it strong durability against acid, alkali, oil, and chemical vapors. This combination provides long-term protection for industrial equipment exposed to harsh environments.

Construction and Mechanical Fields

Silicone-coated fiberglass fabrics are widely applied in modern architecture and manufacturing. They are used for membrane structures, architectural sealing materials, conveyor belts, and high-temperature packaging. The material’s flexibility, high strength, and weather resistance make it ideal for continuous mechanical movement and structural sealing applications.

Fireproof and Thermal Protection

As a fire blanket, fire curtain, or flame-retardant cover, silicone cloth offers excellent thermal insulation and fire resistance. It is widely used in welding protection, industrial facilities, and building safety systems to prevent the spread of sparks, heat, or flame during operation.

Expansion Joint Materials

Silicone cloth is also used for fabric expansion joints in power plants, exhaust systems, and ventilation pipelines. It provides gas sealing, vibration absorption, and thermal protection, maintaining flexibility and stability under continuous stress. Its resistance to high temperature and corrosion makes it an ideal choice for long-term industrial sealing and connection systems.

Storage and Transportation

Store and transport in an environment of 0–40°C with a relative humidity below 75%, at least 1 meter away from heat sources. Avoid exposure to acids, alkalis, or sharp objects that may damage the silicone coating.
During transportation, prevent compression and folding to maintain product integrity. Proper storage ensures the mechanical and insulation properties remain stable over time.
